About the Wine

Claude Manciat was one of a handful of top-flight producers in the Maconnais area. Up until the early 1980s, his wines were sold in bulk to local negociants, but shifting market trends during that period made it possible for a small producer to make a good living bottling his own wine. Today the estate is owned and managed by the jubilant Marie-Pierre Manciat, who represents the 5th generation of vignerons in her family.

The estate was previously imported under the label "Clos Noly" but Marie was forced to change her label. The terroir that the previous label was named after officially received 1er Cru status thus the moniker could longer be used as the name for her wines. She has decided to pay homage to her father, the man who brought much-deserved attention to an overlooked region.

There are 10 total acres spread out among 5 villages. The Domaine is meticulously run with the utmost focus on bringing in perfect fruit. Marie-Pierre Manciat practices sustainable viticulture. The yields at this Domaine are routinely 20-30 percent lower than what is allowed in each given appellation allowing Marie-Pierre to craft wines that are rich and powerful while remaining focused with an emphasis on the calcite-rich soils of each terroir. These wines represent absolutely great value and quality.

Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay, stainless steel. A tropical nose with white flowers and bright calcaire; very compact and mineral-driven mid-palate with dried apricot and chalk; the finish is persistent and very clean.
