About the Wine

The Erikson & Caradin story began with the 2013 vintage when these two passionate wine lovers crafted a wine that was exclusively shared with friends and esteemed restaurants in the area. As the years unfolded, so did their ambition. In 2016, they obtained access to a greater quantity of fruit, increasing their production from 85 cases to 264 cases. And so, the dream was born.

The folks behind Erikson & Caradin know that soil, elevation, and climate are key ingredients in making outstanding wine. When mixed with expert know-how, these elements create truly remarkable wines.

They are experts in making wines that truly represent their unique terroir, which is exactly what winemaker Kevin Morrisey is achieving. With a rich background that includes working at Chateau Petrus, Stags' Leap, Etude, and Ehlers Estate, Kevin certainly knows his stuff.

Their goal is simple: source the most remarkable Cabernet parcels from the most prestigious regions, setting a new benchmark of quality.

Erikson & Caradin Bilateral is an ode to Napa Valley's illustrious Oakville AVA. The vineyard is located just across from the renowned Screaming Eagle vineyard, this wine is the epitome of bilateral viticulture: A harmony between “nature and craftsmanship.” A truly pristine Cabernet Sauvignon.

2019 was a fabulous year for Napa Valley. Wine Spectator awarded this year a 97-point score, and Vinous Media gave it 96 points saying that "The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernets have turned out beautifully. 2019 is a very high-quality vintage of Cabernets that will be easy to drink and enjoy with minimal cellaring. The extra kick of late heat softened the tannins, making the wines a pleasure to taste and drink."

Aging: 18 months in 2nd use French Oak barrels.

Tasting NotesThe intensity of this wine is obvious from the moment you pour it. It unfurls in the glass, revealing roasted dark plum and black truffle scents. Refined acidity, utterly chewable tannins yet silky, a sense of harmony.

Reviews

Aromas of black cherries, plums, fresh herbs and fresh mint. Medium-to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Succulent black fruit with light dried-citrus character. Earthy herbal notes as well. Best after 2025. ~93 James Suckling
