About The Wine

You may not have heard of Vincent de Saint-Denis yet but you may have heard of the winery Domaine Des Beaumont that is producing this wine. Long story short, this is the same 'Les Millandes' that is labeled under Beaumont, just in a brand new package so that it can get into the United States. This is great for us because it means that we get to sell this incredible wine at a much lower price point than the $140+ it normally sells for.

If you're longing for Red Burgundy that knocks your socks off, this is it. This is a "WOW" wine that can't be missed.

The masterminds behind this estate are Thierry and Vincent Beaumont. These brothers are the seventh generation of growers that have worked their families vines but it wasn't until the late 1990s that they started to sell wine as their own label. Today these two brothers produce wine from just over 13 acres, with a small allocation of vines on the Les Millandes Vineyard. This Premier Cru vineyard sits just below the Saint-Dennis Grand Cru and provides an exceptionally structured wine. This is a wine that will easily age for a decade plus.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

A nicely elegant and pure nose speaks of layered aromas of red cherry, raspberry and soft warm earth wisps. The medium-bodied flavors possess a polished mid-palate mouthfeel with solid density though the moderately firm bitter pit fruit finish comes up a bit short.Rich, supple and expressive, this red delivers cherry, plum and spice flavors, with accents of earth and mineral. Dense and well-structured, yet balanced. Long finish. ~92WS

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru has typical Morey bouquet of dark berry fruit mixed with graphite, a little distant at first but eventually developing more fruit concentration and hints of violet borrowed from Vosne. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This feels quite saline in the mouth, offering good density and sucrosity and a touch of blood orange mixed with white pepper toward the finish. Very fine. (NM) ~92 VM
