About The Wine

Caiarossa is more than just a Tuscan estate—it’s a wine lover’s paradise. Nestled in the hills southeast of Pisa, this 31-hectare property produces wines that are nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you taste their wines, it’s clear: Caiarossa doesn’t just grow grapes, they craft liquid magic.

Caiarossa is a biodynamic estate in Maremma's wild coastal hills, founded by the late Eric Albada Jelgersma — the visionary who also owned Chateau Giscours in Margaux. Pergolaia is the estate's everyday Sangiovese-led blend, the calling card for what biodynamic farming and serious winemaking can produce when applied to southern Tuscany.

The 2019 vintage in Maremma was balanced, age-worthy, and beautifully structured. Four major critics scored it 90+, with The Wine Independent leading at 96 points. Drinking beautifully now with a 30-minute decant; will hold and develop for another 5–7 years.
