About the Wine

Located in the beautiful Loire Valley, -also known as “the garden of France” thanks to its rich soils, - you’ll find Chinon, one of the most enchanting cities in the whole country. This beautiful hillside city is located above the waters of the River Vienne and is responsible for producing some of the most delightful Cab Francs in the world. 

Chinon is home to Domaine Olga Raffault. This Domaine tells a beautiful story of perseverance, hard work, and overcoming difficult circumstances. The story goes like this: Olga took control of the company back in 1947 when her husband passed away. It was with the help and guidance of Ernesto Zeinninger (a German prisoner in the service of the estate at the end of the war,) that she was able to pursue the wine dream that her husband left for her. She succeeded and passed the baton on to her children and grandchildren.

This estate is composed of more than 50 acres located in some of the best terroirs in the region. The vineyard is managed with sustainable practices, and since 2015, this winery has achieved organic certification.

Les Barnabés is a beautiful example of an amazing Cab Franc. Vinous Media called this wine a “gentle, easy to like, soft and elegant style of Cabernet Franc.”

2019 was an amazing year for the Loire Vallet. Wine Advocate blessed this year with a 94-95 Point review, and Wine Spectator stated that the fruit "was of premium quality."

Tasting Notes: 100% Cabernet Franc. Beautiful aromas of dark berries, cassis, tree bark, cigar ash, gravelly soil, smoke, a touch of spiced meats, and a lovely top note of juniper berries. The palate is gentle, and elegant, with fine and grainy tannins. This wine pairs perfectly with poultry and white meats, charcuterie, or simply as an aperitif.
