About The Wine

The Smartest Buy in Bordeaux

While First and Second Growths command astronomical, trophy-tier pricing, savvy collectors target the Third and Fourth Growths. These châteaux share the exact same elite gravel terroirs and winemaking teams as their higher-ranked neighbors, but entirely skip the hyper-inflated brand premium.

The 1855 Classification is frozen in time, but the vineyards aren't. Thanks to massive modern investments, these producers are making the best wines in their history, frequently outperforming higher tiers in blind tastings. Even better, they hit their magnificent drinking windows much earlier than First Growths, offering spectacular accessibility alongside decades of cellar potential.

In the historic 2019 and 2022 vintages, these châteaux completely smashed through their historical tiers, delivering 95–97 point majesty at an unbeatable price point. This hand-curated 6-bottle case is your shortcut to the absolute sweet spot of the Médoc.

It is a textbook education in Left Bank terroir, allowing you to taste the perfumed elegance of Margaux, the balanced structure of Saint-Julien, and the robust power of Saint-Estèphe in one seamless experience.

Supple, precise, and brimming with energy. It beautifully frames rich, juicy dark fruit with a firm, age-worthy structure from 60% new French oak.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

2022 Chateau Beychevelle Saint-Julien (97JD)

I was able to taste the 2022 Chateau Beychevelle on multiple occasions, and it never failed to impress me. Based on 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot that will see 18 months in 70% new oak, it's one of those wines that makes you stop and say "wow" due to its purity, depth, and texture. Sporting a dense purple hue as well as lots of blueberry and black cherry fruits, it's full-bodied and has a layered, seamlessmouthfeel, building yet gorgeous tannins, and subtle background notes of crushed violets, flowers, and graphite. This is asensationaleffort from director Philippe Blanc. ~97 Jeb Dunnuck

2022 Chateau Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien (97JD)

#38 Top 100 French Wines of 2025 by James Suckling

A real "wow" wine in the making, the 2022 Chateau Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) checks in as 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. This darker, powerfulwine offers up loads of pure cassis and black cherry-like fruits as well as ample chocolate, graphite, and lead pencil nuances. Full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, it nevertheless stays pure, impeccably balanced, and shows a real sense of elegance. The alcohol here is 13.9% and the élevage is in 48% new French oak. Tasted twice with consistent notes. ~97 Jeb Dunnuck

2019 Chateau Malescot Saint Exupery Margaux (96JS)

Sweet currant and berry aromas with hints of blackcurrants, black cherries and flowers. It’s full-bodied and layered with beautifully polished tannins that last for minutes. Tight and very focused. This needs at least six or seven years to open. Try after 2027. ~96 James Suckling

2022 Chateau Lagrange Saint-Julien (96JA)

Continuing a run of exceptional vintages where everything seems to be going right at this property. High Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, and it comes across in the sleek black fruits and peony character, very much floral and finessed. Good stuff, this is impressive, enjoyable, very St Julien and very good. 50% new oak for ageing, Eric Boissenot consultant, Mathieu Bordes director since 2013. ~96 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

2022 Chateau Lafon-Rochet Saint-Estephe (96VM)

The 2022 Lafon-Rochet is pure class. Silky, aromatic and gracious, Lafon-Rochet is quite possibly the most under-the-radar Saint-Estèphe. Bright blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, mint and spice are all beautifully delineated. A wine of sublime elegance and class, Lafon-Rochet is exquisite in 2022. ~96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2022 Chateau Langoa-Barton Saint-Julien (95Dec)

Supple and lively, this has energy and intensity from the start. Clean and precise, well worked, cool and fresh with tannins that do well to give the frame and structure without overwhelming the fruit. Really nice this year, good movement and liveliness, rich fruit but juicy and fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously and I really like it!! Harvest September 8-23. Yield of 30hl/ha. Aged in 60% new French oak. ~95 Decanter
