About the Wine

Domaine des Granges is run by 3rd generation winemaker, Yannick Paquet. The history of this Chateau dates back to the 12th century when it belonged to the Seigneurie des Chaintré, one of the oldest families in the Macon region.

The 2019 Vers Cras comes from a single vineyard site in Pouilly-Fuisse. The vines here are more than 50 years old. In 2020, the French National Institute of Origin and Quality (INAO) approved 22 terroirs to be classified as Premier Cru (1er Cru) status, and Vers Cras is one of those terroirs. This is the last vintage to not have the deserved and recognized 1er Cru label. As a result, this wine will be 25% more expensive in 2020.

Elevage: 18 months, 12 months barrel fermentation, and 6 months in tank.

Tasting Notes: The palate is powerful and rich. The terroir expresses itself through fitness and minerality. Overall an impeccably balanced wine.

Reviews

From one of the terroirs of Pouilly-Fuissé that became recognized as a cru from the 2020 vintage, this wine shows class, richness, and ripe yellow fruits. It is a full wine, spicy, and with room for further aging. Drink this wine from 2023. ~93 Wine Enthusiast (v. 2018)
