Buscado Vivo o Muerto was born of Jeff Mausbach and Alejandro Sejanovich’s drive to produce unconventional wines. Wine exploring marginal, often forgotten terroirs, vineyards with singular soils and unconventional varietals. Hailing from the legendary Catena Zapata, Jeff and Alejandro work together and use their shared expertise to produce exceptional wines from the Uco Valley, Buscado Vivo o Muerto adheres to sustainable practices in order to maintain this high level of quality and to ensure that their precious vineyards are respected.
This single vineyard blend is located at 3,700 ft, El Cepillo in the southern Uco Valley in the county of San Carlos. El Cepillo is a co-ferment of Malbec, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Sauvignon that's aged for 14 months in 20% new French oak.
Tasting notes: The wine is herbaceous, fresh, red fruit driven with excellent structure. Red cherry, bing cherry, black berry, tomato leaf, thyme, cedar, and tobacco leaf engulf the nose. The wine is beautifully built as the harmony of the red fruits, herbaceous notes, and touch of oak coalesce into one of the most beautiful Argentinian wines of the decade.
Produced with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo from El Cepillo—one of the coldest parts of San Carlos in the Valle de Uco—the 2015 El Indio El Cepillo tends to be austere and might benefit from a slightly warmer year like 2015. It's aromatic and elegant, quite impressive, with an elegant and fine palate. ~95 Robert Parker
A dense and rich 2015 blend with lots of plum, light chocolate and walnut character. Full body, layered and flavorful. Gorgeous finish. Drink or hold. ~93 James Suckling
