About the wine
Casas del Bosque oversees 625 acres located outside Santiago, the capital of Chile. Today Casas del Bosque is one of the most important wineries in Casablanca. In 2010 it became the Best Vineyard to Visit in Chile according to The Winery Guide, Brasil. In 2013 and 2014, the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) chose the winery as the “Chilean Wine Producer of the Year”.
Their mission is to produce wines of the uppermost quality, always searching for excellence. Modern viticulture coupled with an exquisite cool climate in the Casablanca Valley allows them to produce some of the best wines in all of Chile. Their passion for wine, love for the process, and respect for the terroir grant them the ability to transform honest grapes into virtuous wines!
The 2015 Gran Reserva is a marvelous Chardonnay from the cool valley of Casablanca, known as the best place in Chile for this variety. Night-harvested grapes planted on the sandiest soils within their estate allow for water watering acidity. A kiss of skin contact prior to pressing and fermentation finally this succulent Chardonnay is aged in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels for 11 months.
Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. Pale straw in color. On the nose, elegant aromas of quince, lemon, and green pineapple combined with notes of grilled nuts float through your senses. The mouth waters, as the full-bodied wine flows across the palate with fresh, lively acidity and a hint of tannin. Finishing with excellent structure and remarkable length.
A more linear white with melon, sliced apple, and lemon rind. Medium to full body, fresh acidity, and a clean fresh finish. Tight-grained and focused fruit. Drink now. ~92 James Suckling
