Just a little over 2 miles away from legendary Château Petrus and 1 mile from Château Le Pin in Pomerol, you’ll find a hidden little gem, Château La Creation.

Since 2012, this estate, formerly known as Tour Robert, is the property of the Gaye family. This well-established Bordeaux family also owns Châteaux Grand Corbin Manuel in Saint Emilion Grand Cru.

La Creation covers more than 11 acres, with vineyards mostly planted with Merlot, the great Right Bank queen, and a small percentage of Cab Franc and Cab Sauvignon. The 45-year-old vines thrive in a spectacular terroir, with soils formed of compact, clayey, sandy gravel, and a subsoil of iron-rich clay, commonly known as crasse de fer, Pomerol’s watermark.

La Creation winemaking team takes quality very seriously. Everything in the vineyard is carefully hand-worked, and the winemaking area and cellar are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This results in elegant, classic, superior Pomerol, like this 2015 Château La Création Pomerol.

2015 was an outstanding year for Pomerol. Vinous Media blessed this vintage with 97 points, stating that "Bordeaux enjoyed its strongest vintage in a number of years in 2015, they are spectacularly rich, racy wines loaded with personality. The best 2015s on the Right Bank are superb."

There’s no doubt that Pomerol is synonymous with high quality. This appellation delivers some of the most coveted (and expensive) wines that the world has ever seen. So, finding a good value Pomerol is not easy. But we did it. Château La Creation is one of our best Pomerol deals ever.

61% Merlot, 33 % Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. An attractive nose, showing aromas of red cherry and blackcurrant. The palate is medium-bodied with red berries, cedar, and faint sea mist on the attack. An extremely balanced wine with a long and lively finish. Drink this beauty now or allow it to age through 2035.

For a Pomerol, which would normally be almost entirely Merlot, this has a good amount of Cabernet Franc in the blend. The firm tannins and perfumed character of the Cabernet contrast with and balance the rich, jammy Merlot. It's still very young, so don't drink before 2023. ~93 Wine Enthusiast.
