About the wine

Chateau La Tour Figeac was born in 1879 from a land acquisition when the legendary Chateau Figeac began to divide its estate. Surrounded by prestigious estates such as the aforementioned Figeac to the south and Chateau Cheval Blanc to the east, La Tour Figeac resides within a favorable terroir that's been biodynamically farmed since 1997. Today, the Rettenmaier family owns and operates the estate, producing age worthy wines with power and class.

Planted to 65% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc with an average vine age of 35 years, allows winemaker Aaron Pott to produce high quality wine with tremendous aging potential. The 2015 Chateau La Tour Figeac was spawned from one of the best vintages in recent years on the right bank, with a near perfect growing season, this wine is unquestionably one of the best bottles to come from this historic estate. Tasting notes: Packed with ripe, pure fruitiness. Delicious black-currant fruits lead the way accompanied by fresh acidity and soft tannins. The wine finishes with an attractive freshness is a fine contrast to the structure.

Reviews

Very plush, almost hedonistic style here. Superbly intermingled fresh red-berry fruits and spicy-oak aromas lead to a creamy, smooth, velvety palate. Long, fresh black-cherry and plum flavors. Drink or hold. ~94JS

This estate, run on biodynamic principles, has made a rich wine with density and intense, pure black-currant fruits. It has a firm backbone of tannins along with perfumed minerality from the Cabernet Franc in the blend. ~94WE
