About the Wine
Ferrari has been producing sparkling wine in Trento for over 100 years. Giulio Ferrari's original dream for this company was for the wine to compete with the greats of Champagne. Giulio was the first person to bring substantial plantings of Chardonnay into Italy, which he deemed necessary to produce world-class wines. The Riserva Lunelli takes its name from the Family that inherited the estate from Giulio and runs the operation today. This Rosé sparkler is a chiseled, energetic wine that would impress even the most staunch Champagne drinkers.
A beguiling synthesis of tradition and innovation, it is the only wine from Ferrari whose first fermentation takes place in large Austrian oak casks, as in the days of Bruno Lunelli. This origin in wood gives it a greater body, an intriguing richness on the palate, and a harmonious roundness of flavor. After at least 7 years’ maturation in the bottle, the Ferrari Riserva Lunelli displays a complex bouquet and a broad structure, making it extraordinarily versatile when matched with food and ideal for drinking throughout a meal.
Ferrari Trento has once again proven its excellence in sparkling wine, clinching the title of 'Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year' for the sixth time at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. This prestigious award, marking the tenth anniversary of the competition, highlights Ferrari Trento’s remarkable achievement of winning 9 gold and 3 silver medals in 2023. Their consistent success underscores the exceptional quality of wines produced in the Trentino mountains, a legacy dating back over 120 years.
This is a wine that is served at the finest Italian, Michelin-rated restaurants. Given the extended aging, the wine is actually a bargain. Don't miss a chance to taste this rare and special wine from NE Italy.
From the finest family-owned Chardonnay vineyards, this exceptional Trentodoc Riserva embodies the centuries-old tradition of Ferrari Trento, with the Lunelli family’s signature imprinted on every bottle. Made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from their own vineyards, it is a wine of extraordinary structure. A unique blend of tradition and innovation, it stands as the only Ferrari Trento label where the first fermentation takes place in large Austrian oak barrels, just as Bruno Lunelli did. This aging process in oak imparts a remarkable richness, offering both body and an inviting, harmonious smoothness.
Tasting Notes
100% Chardonnay. The wine is a brilliant golden hue, with a fine, persistent perlage that adds to its elegance. Its aromatic profile is a captivating mix of floral notes, citrus zest, and exotic fruits, with layers of bread crust, pineapple, lemon cream, and rosemary spice. Hints of honey and hazelnut complete the sensory experience. On the palate, the wine strikes a perfect balance of vibrant fruit and toasted yeast, while the oak imparts both structure and a lasting, refined finish that reflects its deep-rooted heritage and meticulous craftsmanship.
Critical Reviews
Ground ginger and wildflowers swirl around warm, baking apples, creating a nose that's both cozy and fresh. A pop of zippy lemon follows, with a punchy hit of tart lemon curd adding a crisp edge. This wine plays between warmth and zing, keeping each sip lively and irresistibly drinkable, yet time in the cellar will do magic. Drink Now - 2040 ~98 Wine Enthusiast
