BLEND: 72% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Dark Ruby color, deep layers of black cherries, cassis, blackberries, cocoa, currants and bit of truffle on the nose, the wine is beautiful and seductive. An elegant, round, and rich mid palate with attractive texture and excellent acidity, Padlock, our Bordeaux blend, is sexy but well balanced with good depth and length.

About the Winery

The secret sauce in Picayune is just that, secret. The origin of the highly prized grapes that end up in a bottle of Picayune are kept secret because the wines from these vineyards are sold at much higher prices under other labels. The key on the label refers to their modus operandi; "Unlocking Secret Wines from California".

Inspired by the classic French negociant model, Claire states that she "strives to buy small lots from her talented friends and give them a new future."

Picayune, which means "little bit" in French represents a collaboration between Jennifer Roberts and Claire Weinkauf.  After years of working in Bordeaux, and South America, Claire took a position with Paul Hobbs for four years.  This relationship primed her to form a consulting company and consequently represent names such as Matthiasson Wines, Anomaly Vineyards, Morlet Family Estate, and Cowhorn Winery.
