About the Wine

Pax Mahle landed in Napa Valley in 1997. Following a stint as a wine buyer at Dean & Deluca, he started producing wines. He particularly focused on cool climate Syrah. With the launch of Wind Gap in Petaluma, he began to focus on lower alcohol Pinot Noir sourced from organic and low-intervention vineyards.

This wine is a blend of several vineyards.

Reviews

The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a delicious, appellation-level wine from Wind Gap. In 2016, Pax Mahle bottled only one vineyard designate Pinot, all the rest of fruit went into the appellation level wine. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, sage, mint and savory herbs are all laced together in this exquisite, nuanced Pinot from Wind Gap. Don't miss it. Fruit sources are Griffin’s Lair, Parliament Hill, Black Knight, Gaps Crown and Sun Chase. The 2016 was done with 100% whole clusters and aged in 500-600L barrels. ~92VM
