About the Wine

Bodega Polo is a new BHW Direct Import from a winery with a long history and vineyards located in the Beverly Hills of Uco Valley in La Consulta. After fully renovating and upgrading an existing winery property in 2011, the family has relaunched with incredible hand-drawn labels that tell the story of their Heritage and Work on the land amongst the vines.

This is a wine of purity. It is not overly oaked, sweet, or cloying. It's a well-balanced, lively wine that is a pleasure to drink.

The Polo's say, "Herencia means Inheriting, which implies staying together through time, honoring our family values. Respeto is the respect for the grape and the vine. Caring for the land is a responsibility the family takes seriously. Sun, water from the Andes, good people. All this inhabits each and every bottle. Believe it, there’s life in there, there are hidden sensations and there’s joy.

Tasting Notes: Dark and deep purple like the night with intense plum and bing cherry fruit flavors. Chocolate with a balanced toasted oak and vanilla in the nose carries into the flavors in the mouth. The wine is like velvet in the mouth; it's that good.

Vines: 20+ year old from 3000+ feet toward the Andes

Aging: 10 months in 40% 2nd and 3rd year old oak.

Reviews

This oozes rich and ripe dark cherries and plums on the nose and palate with a swathe of smoothly rendered tannins that draw neat and fresh into the red-fruited finish. Drink now. ~ 91 James Suckling
