Oh, Chianti! We all love this place. I mean, is there anything more enchanting and artistic than this Tuscan charming hill-covered region? This is a place loaded with history, art, legends, stunning landscapes, and delectable wines. This appellation produces what James Suckling said, “some of the finest wines in Italy and the world.” And, one of the best-known and most appreciated wines in the world is Chianti Classico.
When it comes to high-quality, top Chianti Classico, Tenuta Orsumella is at the top of its game. This beautiful 200-acre family-owned winery is run by the 3rd generation of the Menichetti family, a charming Italian family that is completely committed to producing high-quality wines. They take care of every aspect of the game, from the vineyard (which is managed under sustainable and organic practices, and BIO certified since 2018,) they handpick and carefully select all the grapes. Menichetti's main goal is to create high-quality wines that truly represent the outstanding terroir of their land. Tenuta Orsumella follows the strict regulations of Chianti Classico DOCG.
Chianti Classico has two additional levels that determine the wine's quality and aging. "Chianti Classico Riserva" wines need at least two years in barrel (24 months) plus three months in bottle before being released. Corte Rinieri is a Chianti Classico Riserva. This wine comes from Orsumella's vineyards located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, with a beautiful terroir composed of Alberese sandstone soils and Galestro marlstone.
This amazing wine comes from a great year in Chianti Classico, one that Wine Spectator blessed with 95 points, and said this year delivered "balanced reds with finesse and the structure to age."
If you love Chianti Riserva, you'll adore Corte Rinieri. This is our best value Chianti Classico Riserva. Once you taste it, you won't go back!
Aging: New and second use 25 hl French Oak barrels where the wine completes its malolactic fermentation and age for 24 months.
Tasting Notes: Intense ruby red color. Enveloping aromas of juicy fruits with notes of raspberry and blackberry and a spicy undertone. The palate is thick, dense, and well-balanced. The acidity is in perfect harmony with a complex undertone. This Chianti Riserva is a complete pleasure to drink and share!
Red plums and blue plums invade the primary scene. In the background, citrus flavors of cedar in pieces and blood oranges. On the palate, full body, raw tannins, and a harmonious and decidedly fresh finish. Drink now. ~92 WinesCritic.com
