About the Wine
Maison Louis Jadot needs no introduction. This winery has been around for so long that they have become synonyms for Burgundian quality wines.
The story of Maison Louis Jadot started when Louis Henri Denis Jadot, originally from Belgium, arrived in Burgundy in 1794 and soon purchased his first parcels of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. However, it was until 1859, that he acquired the respected négociant firm of Lemaire-Fouleux, and this is when Maison Louis Jadot was born. Little did he know that his passion for wine will result in one of the most emblematic and respected wineries in the entire world.
His son Louis Baptiste Jadot took over the family winery and purchased more vineyards in some of the best regions in Burgundy, including Côte d’Or. Today, Pierre-Henry Gagey and his son Thibault have been at the helm of this Maison, achieving great recognitions and award-winning wines.
Jacques Lardière started working with the winery in 1970. After more than 50 years of expertise, today he is recognized as one of the best winemakers in all of Burgundy and the world. Jacques passed his knowledge to current wine director Frédéric Barnier, who, since 2013, has been working hand to hand with Jacques to produce Maison Jadot’s extraordinary wines.
2019 Louis Jadot Macon-Villages Burgundy has been named on several occasions an amazing value wine. Food and Wine magazine mentioned this wine in its article called “Chardonnay that Overdelivers for the Money,” and VinePair called it an amazing value and “Go-to bargain Chardonnay.”
2019 was a great year for white Burg. Vinous Media blessed this vintage with a 93-95 point review, stating that “The wines showed surprising levels of tension thanks to the tartaric acidity that counterbalances their power and tropical notes.”
Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. Fresh and fruity aromas of apple, citric fruits, and mineral notes. The palate is fresh with vibrant acidity. This wine pairs lovely with seafood, goat cheeses, light pasta, or even as an aperitif.
