    About the Wine

Louis Roederer is the house behind Cristal — the most iconic Champagne in the world.

Louis Roederer, a family-owned Champagne house since 1776, has built its legacy on exceptional quality and a vineyard-first philosophy.

After inheriting the estate in 1833, Louis Roederer expanded the domaine by acquiring some of Champagne’s finest Grand Cru vineyards—most importantly in Verzy and Chouilly—ensuring complete control over the character and precision of the wines. This forward-thinking approach is what ultimately elevated the house to legendary status.

If you've ever had a Champagne that tasted "fine" but never made you stop and pay attention, this is the one that flips that switch. Roederer only releases their Blanc de Blancs when the year is genuinely worth declaring — and 2019 was one of those years.

It's 100% Chardonnay from a single village: Avize, in the heart of Champagne's Côte des Blancs, often considered the spiritual home of great Blanc de Blancs. Every grape comes from Roederer's own family-owned Grand Cru vineyards.

The bubbles are softer and creamier than a typical Champagne (Roederer deliberately bottles this at lower pressure for a silkier mousse), and the dosage is restrained at 7 g/L, so what comes through isn't sweetness — it's chalk, citrus, white flowers, and the kind of layered weight you usually only find at twice the price.

    Tasting Notes

    100% Chardonnay.

Pours a deep yellow with bright tints and a fine, persistent bead. The nose opens with powdered chalk, candied lemon, white jasmine flowers, and lightly toasted almonds — there's a sea-breeze, saline freshness running underneath.

On the palate it's dense and intense without ever feeling heavy: crisp, juicy citrus lifted by a cushiony, unctuous mousse. The oak is barely there — just enough to add a whisper of white chocolate and a vinous, almost white-Burgundy weight on the finish. Long, mineral, salty, and built for the table.

    Critical Reviews

A bright medium yellow color, the 2019 Champagne Blanc de Blancs is focused on the nose and is an exciting wine because it's beautiful and friendly yet still carries real structure. It has lemon sorbet and creamy cheese notes, with concentration and beauty but also vertical minerality. It's a gorgeous Chardonnay with long-lasting energy and length, and the mousse is refreshing and springy, bringing fresh energy throughout. ~ 95 Jeb Dunnuck

What our customers say about us

    Louis Roederer

    Champagne, France

Louis Roederer, a family-owned Champagne house since 1776, has built its legacy on exceptional quality and meticulous vineyard management. Originally founded as Dubois Père & Fils, the company was renamed in 1833 after Louis Roederer inherited it. Over the years, Louis Roederer’s vision and commitment to excellence elevated the house to legendary status. Rather than relying on outside grape sources, Louis Roederer acquired some of the finest Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne, giving them complete control over the quality of their wines.

With over two centuries of winemaking experience, Louis Roederer continues to lead the Champagne world. The introduction of Cristal in 1876, originally crafted for Tsar Alexander II, marked a defining moment in Champagne history. Cristal became known as the ultimate expression of luxury, a cuvée that continues to be revered by collectors and connoisseurs around the globe. After the Russian Revolution, Cristal was released internationally in 1945, cementing its status as a world-class Champagne
