Secret Indulgence is a luxury wine brand spear-headed by the French-born, Jean-Charles Boisset. The aim is to unite the old and new world philosophies of winemaking with its Franco-American spirit, ultimately crafting one of the world's premier luxury wine brands. The 2018 Chronology Red is a Prisoner-like blend from seven different counties and nine varietals putting on display the exceptional blending talents of winemaker Katie Carter. The 2018 blends Rhone and Bordeaux varietals into a rich, and full-bodied mistress who's tantalizing seduction will leave your jaw open, yearning for more.
Aging: 7 months, stainless steel and barrel-aged (16% new oak)
Tasting Notes: The 2019 Chronology Red Wine is dark plum in your glass. The Rhone and Bordeaux varietals are masterfully blended into an enticing array of flavors and aromas. You are greeted with notes of black mission fig, dark chocolate, and blackberry with a hint of bramble on the nose. From the first sip, you find notes of delicious dark fruits, cacao, a hint of cigar box, and spice. The Chronology coats your palate in a rich but soft feel, with a velvety aspect that spreads and lingers.
The 2018 Chronology Red is a blend of predominately Petite Sirah with Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Mission, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it slowly unfurls to reveal scents of crushed red and black plums, boysenberries, and Black Forest cake with hints of Sichuan pepper, sandalwood, iron ore, and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate has bags of freshness and energy, supported by firm yet plush, incredibly well-tamed tannins and loads of black fruit and exotic spice layers, finishing long and peppery. This is truly an exercise in masterful blending—delicious! ~92 Robert Parker (v. 2018)
The 2018 Chronology checks in as a mix of mostly Petite Sirah, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache, and Malbec, yet has small amounts of other red varieties. Beautiful blue fruits, violets, spice, and some earthy, herbal notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, elegant, undeniably delicious red. I’d drink bottles in their youth, but it should keep for at 3-5 years. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck (v. 2018)
