About the Wine
Bründlmayer is located in the beautiful town of Langenlois in Austria, upstream of the Danube in the Lower Austrian Kamp Valley. Some of the most geologically diverse terroirs in Europe are right here.
Willi Bründlmayer is the proud owner and a very recognized winemaker. As a man devoted to Austrian’s terroir, he says “The wine tells everything about the soil, the heat and cold, of storm and rain, the landscape – and the people involved from the beginning.”
The vineyards in the Kamptal are characterized by their barren primary rock soils, planted in large and wide terraces, each creating its own microclimate. Bründlmayer’s vineyards cover almost 200 acres planted with Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Zweigelt, and other Burgundian varieties. Owner, Willi started to convert the vineyard into fully organic.
Tasting Notes: 100% Riesling. A beautiful bouquet of white and yellow flowers immediately impregnates the nose with a twist of green lemon peel, followed by some spice, and mineral yeasty tones. Amazingly fresh on the palate, balanced, and very pure. This wine is elegant, slender, and crisp.
Reviews
Almost German style, this dry riesling has a great balance of citrus and stone-fruit aromas, as well as some nice fresh-herb notes. Juicy and well-structured with plenty of minerality, this is a delightful and complex wine that’s just beginning to give its best. Long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap. ~93 James Suckling
Light yellow-green, silver reflections. Peach underlaid with delicate citrus nuances, a hint of lemon balm, fresh bouquet. Juicy, lively acid structure, mineral-salty, lemony finish, already easy to drink. ~92 Falstaff
