About the Wine

Domaines Ott has been pioneering some of the world’s most prestigious wines from the French Riviera since 1912. Founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott, the wine estates of Domaines Ott were acquired by Louis Roederer in 2004. Domaine Ott is a world-class Rose producer whose high-quality Rosé is second to none!

Château de Selle was the first estate acquired by Marcel Ott in 1912. It is in Taradeau, near Draguignan, on the soil where only olive, lavender, and mulberry trees used to grow. Not far from Thoronet Abbey, close to a former 18th-century residence of the Counts of Provence, the soil is gypsum, red clay, dolomite, and sandstone mixed with gravel and stone, today producing highly distinguished and elegant wines. Perched on high limestone inland slopes where it is sheltered from winter frosts, the estate enjoys a microclimate of mild winters, early springs, and warm and dry summers, always with a great deal of sunshine.

Tasting notes:Rosé. Proprietary blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre. This pale pink wine with golden tints releases fragrances of citrus fruit and orchard flowers enveloped in spice. On the palate, the immediate effect is elegant and open, developing subtle aromas with a lemony edge before a sweet finish of appealing length.

Reviews

Pale and coppery as usual, Ott's 2020 Cotes de Provence Rose Chateau de Selle boasts restrained aromas of peach, melon, and citrus underscored by hints of crushed stone. In the mouth, it's medium-bodied and concentrated, with ample intensity, a slightly creamy texture, and a long, mouthwatering finish. Like the other top rosés of Domaines Ott, this is a wine that is often better in its second year. ~93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Pale salmon skin. Mineral-tinged red currant, raspberry, blood orange, and white peach scents are complemented by a suave lavender nuance that builds in the glass. Silky and penetrating on the palate, offering concentrated red berry and pit fruit flavors sharpened by a bitter suggestion of orange pith. Finishes very long and smooth, with repeating floral and pit fruit notes ~93 Vinous Media

This is big on drinkability with light cherry, strawberry, and peach aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, creamy, and minerally with fresh, stony character. Vivid at the end. Another gorgeous Ott. Drink now. ~93 Points James Suckling
