About the Wine
Piana Rotaliana, which Cesare Battisti referred to as the most beautiful vineyard in Europe, is set in the heart of the Trentino region’s most charming scenery; characterized by a set of valleys, mountains, and hills. Here in Mezzocorona, you will find Marco Donati, one of the oldest wineries in Trentino, originally established in 1863.
Today the winery is still family owned & operated by Marco Donati, Emanuela (his wife), and Elisabetta (their daughter). The Donati's specialize in Trentino-type autochthonous varietal heritage while experimenting with new vines. Their passion drives them to follow their family tradition and to improve day after day.
The family firm is considered a reference point of the oenologic Trentino tradition, so far committed to giving value to a quality vine heritage. A vine to which Donati’s family is historically bound is the Teroldego, an autochthonous vine used to produce the legendary “Teroldego Dragon’s Blood”.
Tasting Notes
100% Lagrein. Bright ruby red with an intense nose. It has a delicate bouquet with slight hints of vanilla and violet. The pallet is fresh and elegant, pleasantly austere and robust.
