About the Wine
“Cabernet Franc is worthy of note, considering how well it does in high-altitude vineyards. Today, Latin America appears to be leading a new wave of cabernet franc with Mendoza at the epicenter of it.” ~ James Suckling.
The surname Zuccardi has a well-deserved reputation in the wine industry worldwide. This family is not only responsible for producing some of the best Argentinian wines, but they also have the best wine tourism experience in the entire world: For the third consecutive year, Zuccardi Valle de Uco has been named "The Best Vineyard in the World" by the recognized magazine and digital media company, William Reed Business Medi.
This family business founded by engineer Alberto Zuccardi in 1963, has 6 different estates strategically placed in some of the best wine-growing areas of Mendoza. Today, it is directed by Sebastián Zuccardi, Alberto's grandson.
Sebastián is a visionary and innovative agronomist and winemaker who has made great strides and improvements since he took over the winery. Among other important achievements, he started and promoted a department of research and development that studies the terroir of the region, in order to better understand the land and improve the quality of their wines. Sebastian says: "We don’t look for perfect wines, but those that express the place, the region”.
The winery was built in 2013 and is a tribute to the majestic Andes mountains that surround it. Zuccardi Wines is sustainable in all aspects, from the vineyard to the cellar and even the architecture, where the construction is made with natural elements from the area. The wines are vinified in basins and amphoras allowing a more natural result and with the least possible human intervention.
The Andes shape everything—climate, water, soil—and in turn, define the character of these wines. Nowhere captures that mountain identity more clearly than the Uco Valley.
Sebastián Zuccardi was drawn to its quiet power, its stark beauty, and the distinct personality of each village. Polígonos is a tribute to that diversity—wines that map the valley’s many voices, from soil to slope to sky.
Each bottle reflects a unique origin, like the angular lines of a polygon—sharp, varied, and full of meaning. These are mountain wines with a sense of place in every sip.
Tasting Notes
100% Cabernet Franc. Red color with violet hues. Expresses a great herbal character with notes of fresh red fruits. Lively acidity and subtlety of tannins in the mouth. Pair this wine with beef burgers, roasted pork, turkey, or grilled lamb. It also goes beautifully with cheeses like goat and brie.
Critical Reviews
Herby aromas blend with fruity tones in this Cabernet Franc from the San Pablo highlands, above 1,400 meters in the Uco Valley, one of the most extreme regions of Mendoza. Fermented in concrete and aged in 500-liter barrels, this is a genuine version of the variety from that region of the Andes: aromas of ripe red fruits and herbs, soft hints of tobacco in the background, and very fine tannins that spread through the mouth and evoke a Milanese steak. ~96 Descorchados Magazine

The 2020 Cabernet Franc Poligonos Del Valle De Uco San Pablo was aged for 10 months in French oak. Bright purple in hue. The heart of the nose is herbal with gentle notes of jalapeño and mint. Continuing on the nose, clear fruity aromas spring forward including fresh plum and cherry. Flavorful in the mouth, the palate is energized by the freshness with fine tannins that grow juicier well into the aftertaste. A pure, raw red with a captivating profile. ~94 Vinous Media
Bell pepper, ripe blackberry and herbal notes show on the nose of this well-balanced red. Light notes of rosemary and peppercorn blend with intense red- and black-fruit flavors framed by supple tannins and nice acidity. A hint of herbs in the lingering finish makes it very pleasant. ~91 Wine Enthusiast
