About the Wine

“Barbarescos have never been better.” ~Ian D’Agata, Decanter.

2021 was an extraordinary vintage for Barbaresco. Robert Parker and Vinous Media blessed this year with a 96pt review, and said: "Two thousand twenty-one is shaping up to be a magnificent vintage for Barbaresco. The best 2021s are marvelously complete wines that offer a captivating mix of energy, structure, depth, and plenty of site character."

The family behind this wine traces its roots back to the 17th century, when they left France and settled in Piedmont. The modern chapter began in 1920, when a new generation laid the foundation for a legacy focused on precision, clarity, and an unwavering respect for Piedmont’s native grapes.

This producer helped revive Barbera d’Asti in the 1980s and played a key role in elevating the now-famous “Nizza” subzone to its DOCG status. Their philosophy blends tradition with modern technique—no excess, no heavy hand—just pure expression of vineyard and grape.

Today, they operate as the boutique, premium-focused arm of one of Piedmont’s most advanced cooperatives. With 180 growers and 300 hectares of vineyards behind them, the operation benefits from state-of-the-art winemaking facilities, rigorous fruit selection, and decades of collective expertise.

Terrific terroir, skilled growers, and cutting-edge technology give this bottling its edge. And unlike many Barbaresco producers, these wines are aged longer than required—released only when they reach their fullest, most expressive form.

This is Barbaresco made with patience, precision, and respect for the ingredient that matters most: TIME.

Tasting Notes

100% Nebbiolo.

As you pour this wine, its ruby-red color slowly deepens to garnet at the edges. The aroma is a powerful and complex mix of ripe plum and black cherry, with hints of powdered coffee and tobacco adding depth.

On the palate, it's rich and generously lively. The tannins are smooth, creating a lasting presence that carries flavors of plum and vanilla into the finish and aftertaste, leaving a delightful and memorable impression.

Critical Reviews

This is attractive, with spiced cherries, red plums, dried rose hips and hints of chocolate. Medium-bodied with a chalky, firm and polished texture, leaving a slightly earthy but juicy and vivid aftertaste. ~91 James Suckling

A young wine with great promise. Juicy bright red fruits, mingle with tar and wild herbs. All well-integrated now and well-structured, but will give even more with time. ~91 International Wine & Spirits Competition
