About the Wine

Some family wineries are born out of business plans. Belledor was born out of love — love for the land, for the craft, and for a corner of California that most wine drinkers have never heard of.

The Frazier family founded Belledor in 2015 on a piece of Shenandoah Valley property whose roots stretch back to the 1850s Gold Rush, when European immigrants first planted vines in Amador County and discovered that this sun-drenched Sierra Foothills terrain was quietly extraordinary wine country.

The name says it all: Belledor means "Beautiful Amador."

The wine itself is led by Brenna Frazier, the family's executive winemaker, who brought serious credentials back home — a Wine Business degree from Sonoma State, a Winemaking Certificate from UC Davis, and years of hands-on experience working with Jackson Family Wines and Trinchero Family Estates in Napa and Sonoma.

Primitivo is one of southern Italy’s great red grapes — famous for its bold fruit, warmth, and generosity — and it turns out it has plenty to say when it’s grown in California’s Sierra Foothills. At Belledor, the Primitivo vines were planted by the previous owners of this historic Shenandoah Valley property, meaning winemaker Brenna Frazier is working with mature, well-established vines that have had decades to settle into their surroundings.

That kind of vine age matters. Older vines naturally produce smaller yields and more concentrated fruit, resulting in a Primitivo with deeper flavor, brighter balance, and a sense of place that younger vineyards simply can’t replicate.

Tasting Notes

This vibrant Primitivo opens with bright aromas of red cherry, blueberry, and violets. On the palate, juicy dark cherry and tangy rhubarb unfold alongside a touch of vanilla.

Harvested early during a scorching 2022 heat wave, the wine leans slightly lighter in body, showcasing fresh acidity, a smooth round texture, and a clean, elegant structure that keeps each sip lively and balanced.

What our customers say about us

Belledor Vineyards-Plymouth

Plymouth, California

Belledor Vineyards is a family-owned winery nestled in California's Shenandoah Valley, founded in 2015 by Russ and Shannon Frazier on land whose winemaking history stretches back to the Gold Rush era of the 1850s.

The name Belledor — a blend of the French belle (beautiful) and the Latin Amador (lover) — captures exactly what this winery is about: a deep love for one of California's most underrated wine regions. Led by daughter and executive winemaker Brenna Frazier, whose training spans UC Davis and hands-on experience with Jackson Family Wines and Trinchero Family Estates, Belledor produces small-batch estate wines that showcase the unique character of Amador County's high-elevation, volcanic soils through Italian, French, and Spanish varietals — earning multiple Gold Medals along the way.
