About the Wine

Campo alle Comete, a boutique winery nestled in Bolgheri, Tuscany, combines organic farming, artistic vision, and modern craftsmanship to create wines that reflect the coastal soul of the region.

Rooted in sandy, limestone-rich soils and refreshed by Mediterranean breezes, the estate produces wines of balance, elegance, and purity, true to the essence of Tuscany’s coastal terroir.

The 2022 Oltresogno Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT perfectly expresses this philosophy. In Bolgheri’s unique microclimate, Cabernet Sauvignon finds ideal growing conditions—warm days, cool nights, and mineral-rich soils that bring both power and finesse. These elements allow the grape to reach full maturity, revealing deep fruit concentration and refined structure.

To preserve freshness and texture, half of the wine is aged in stainless steel, maintaining vibrant fruit character, while the remaining portion matures for six months in new and used French oak barriques and tonneaux, adding subtle spice and roundness. The result is a smooth, fruit-forward Cabernet that balances ripe intensity with elegant restraint—a modern Tuscan expression of this classic variety.

Tasting Notes

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Intense ruby red color. The bouquet on the nose shows the typical fruity and spicy hints of the grape variety. On the palate, it is dry, smooth, and well-balanced between the ripe and silky tannins and the fresh spicy aromas. Long, fruity, and spicy finish.

Critical Reviews

On the nose, tart blackberries and black plums are balanced by the spicy warmth of green and black peppercorn and tea leaf. The palate adds nuance with sweet, cool notes of berries, damp earth, and mixed herbs, beneath a dusting of salt and pepper that sets up a bright, acidic, salty finish~ 95 Wine Enthusiast

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Oltresogno is made in forward, fruity style. Dried herbs, leather, game, forest floor, and licorice add shades of nuance, but this mid-weight Cabernet is all about forward fruit and supple tannins. This is a very good Bolgheri Cabernet Sauvignon. I am keenly interested to learn if more is possible. ~ 93 Vinous Media

A youthful ruby red color, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Oltresogno is expressive and ripe on the nose with aromas of toasted cedar, sweet herbs, currants, baked red berries, and pie spices. The palate offers an elegant, full-bodied feel, with refined tannins, even acidity, and a gently tapering finish. It’s a highly charming wine to drink now or over the next 6-7 years. ~ 92 Jeb Dunnuck

A lightly chewy cabernet that has aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, black cherries, Spanish cedar and nutmeg. Full-bodied but fresh and tangy, with a firm finish ~ 90 James Suckling

What our customers say about us

Campo alle Comete

Tuscany, Italy

Located at the foot of Castagneto Carducci in Livorno, Campo alle Comete spans 17 hectares, including 14.5 of vineyards and 2.5 of olive groves. Planted between 1993 and 2007, the estate’s Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Petit Verdot are registered under the Bolgheri DOC.

Practicing sustainable and organic viticulture since 2016, the estate benefits from sandy soils, Mediterranean breezes, and wide temperature shifts, producing healthy, aromatic grapes with ripe tannins and natural balance.

Acquired in 2016 by Feudi di San Gregorio, the winery takes its name from an ancient local toponym meaning “Field of the Comets.” This magical identity is reflected in the artwork of Nicoletta Ceccoli, whose whimsical illustrations inspire the winery’s labels.

Under Jeanette Servidio and oenologist Stefano Di Blasi, Campo alle Comete crafts premium Bolgheri DOC and IGT Toscana wines that blend Bolgheri’s coastal elegance with a touch of artistic imagination.
