About the Offer

The Leflaive legacy stretches back to 1717, when Claude Leflaive planted the family’s roots in Puligny-Montrachet with a fearless vision: to shape one of Burgundy’s great vineyard estates. That vision became reality between 1910 and 1930, as Joseph Leflaive expanded the domaine through bold, strategic acquisitions—laying the groundwork for a name now synonymous with the pinnacle of white Burgundy.

Still entirely family-owned, Domaine Leflaive is today led by Brice de La Morandière, Joseph’s great-grandson and the fourth generation to guide the estate. With an international business career behind him and the pioneering spirit of Anne-Claude Leflaive, a leader in biodynamic viticulture, Brice carries the domaine forward with the same uncompromising values: profound respect for terroir, humility before nature, and a relentless pursuit of purity and excellence.

"The 2022 vintage has turned out very nicely at Domaine Leflaive. Picking decisions at this address in recent years, under the direction of Pierre Vincent, have tended to privilege freshness, and a couple of wines appeared to have been picked a little on the early side if one's tastes lean toward the texture and plenitude that only full maturity can impart; but overall, this is a strong vintage that is developing a touch of noble reduction in bottle and which is going to age with grace. As usual, élevage began with a year in barrel (from a variety of coopers, including Séguin Moreau and Chassin) followed by six months or so in tank on the lees before bottling under Diam 30." ~ Robert Parker

Wines Included

Pale gold with crystalline clarity and a faint silver edge. The nose is pure and reductive in the finest sense — citrus oil, white flowers, blanched almonds, and lemon thyme layered over a cool, stony minerality and a precise thread of gunflint that is the unmistakable signature of Chevalier at its best.

The aromatics are still largely gathered and inward-facing; patience here is not optional.

On the palate the wine is borderline austere in its intensity — not forbidding, but demanding. The body is large and tightly wound, with flavors of Granny Smith apple, citrus zest, and white spice moving across a palate of almost painful precision, driven by an acid spine of remarkable length and focus.

The finish is bone-dry, massively persistent, and Zen-like in its harmony — building through every sip rather than fading.

Critical Reviews

This luscious, creamy white is laced with floral, peach, apricot, citronella and mineral aromas and flavors. Tense and bracing, this rides a wave of vibrant acidity, unraveling its flavors while building to the long, detailed aftertaste. A hint of white pepper graces the finish. A seamless wine. Best from 2027 through 2038. 500 cases made, 100 cases imported. ~ 98 Wine Spectator

The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is suave and ethereal, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet citrus oil, white flowers, blanched almonds and crisp orchard fruit. Full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's pure and precise, with a bright core of fruit and a long, saline finish. ~ 97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This Chevalier-Montrachet is a marvellous achievement, a monumental wine that balances elegance, finesse and power. The aromas – flint, citrus, white peach and a hint of smoky reduction – are already pretty, yet only hint at the complexity to come. The balance of extract, acidity and lush fruit is nothing less than thrilling. This is a wine that will provide pleasure for decades to come. ~ 97 Decanter

Domaine Leflaive

Burgundy, France

The estate as we know it today took shape between 1910 and 1930, when Joseph Leflaive expanded the domaine through strategic acquisitions of vineyards and homes—laying the foundation for one of Burgundy’s greatest names.

Since its creation, Domaine Leflaive has remained entirely family-owned. Today, leadership rests with Brice de La Morandière, Joseph Leflaive’s great-grandson and the fourth generation at the helm.

After a successful international business career, he stepped in following the passing of Anne-Claude, a trailblazer in biodynamic viticulture.
