About the Wine

Accendo Cellars is the second act of one of Napa Valley's most important wine families. Bart and Daphne Araujo built the Eisele Vineyard into one of Napa's most coveted Cabernets—a cult wine that now sells for over $500 a bottle and is owned today by François Pinault, the same billionaire behind Château Latour. After selling Eisele in 2013, the Araujos quietly started over. Accendo is what they're pouring their lives into now, a smaller, more deliberate project drawing on three decades of Napa mastery.

Winemaker Françoise Peschon has been with the Araujos since 1993. She earned her stripes at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and Araujo Estate, and the Sauvignon Blanc is her signature white. The 2023 is a Graves-inspired blend—75% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Semillon, and 6% Sauvignon Musque—sourced from two Oakville vineyards and Juliana Vineyard in Pope Valley, all farmed organically and biodynamically. Grapes are whole-cluster pressed and barrel-fermented (roughly 20% new oak), with weekly bâtonnage on the lees for texture.

What you get is a Napa Sauvignon Blanc that actually drinks like Bordeaux. There's richness here—silky, layered, generous—but it's held in place by a spine of mineral acidity that keeps everything tight and alive. This is what Napa Sauvignon Blanc looks like when a world-class Cabernet team turns its attention to white wine, and at 1,209 cases produced, most wine drinkers will never know it exists.

Tasting Notes

A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Semillon, and 6% Sauvignon Musque. The nose opens with lemon curd, passion fruit, and juicy peach, lifted by honeysuckle, white flowers, and a flinty struck-match mineral note. The palate is medium-bodied and layered—citrus oil, crushed stone, kiwi, and Asian pear—with a silky mid-palate richness from barrel fermentation and lees aging, all pulled taut by bright, focused acidity. The finish is long, chalky, and saline-driven. Drink now through 2030.

Critical Reviews

A super-fresh, mineral-laden white that is super tangy and nicely concentrated. This contains 19% semillon and 6% sauvignon musque. Medium-bodied, elegant and acid-driven, with vivid lemon zest, kiwi and wet stone flavors that linger in the finish. Drink now or hold. ~96 James Suckling

Made by Françoise Pechon and bright and racy, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc reveals crushed citrus, stony minerality, and mint notes. All barrel-fermented (20% new), it's clean, bright, and impressive, showing a fresher style. A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Semillon, and 6% Sauvignon Musque, it hit 13.8% alcohol, and there are 1,209 cases produced. ~91 Jeb Dunnuck

Sourced from two vineyards in Oakville and another in Pope Valley, Accendo's 2023 Sauvignon Blanc boasts gently floral scents on the nose, plus notes of orangey citrus, nectarines and a hint of fig. Mainly barrel-fermented in used oak, it's medium- to full-bodied, plump and generous on the palate, its silky texture enriched by regular bâtonnage. Finishing crisp and clean, it's a delicious apéritif, but it can also accompany a variety of seafood or vegetarian dishes. ~93 Wine Advocate
