About the Wine

Austin Hope didn't just make wine in Paso Robles — he helped define what Paso Robles Cabernet could be.

Growing up in his family's vineyards, learning the craft from legendary mentors including Caymus's Chuck Wagner, Hope launched his namesake Cabernet in 2017 and immediately set a new standard for the region. The wine has since been named a Top 10 Wine of the Year by Wine Enthusiast — twice.

The 2023 vintage is the product of an extraordinary growing season. Cooler temperatures and near-record rainfall allowed berries to develop slowly, building exceptional tannin structure, color intensity, and flavor concentration. A warm, consistent autumn brought that fruit to full maturity — resulting in a vintage that checks every box: ripe, balanced, and built to please both the cellar and the dinner table.

Sourced from six of Paso's eleven districts — with the backbone coming from Geneseo, Paso Robles Highlands, and Estrella — and aged in French oak, this is Austin Hope's most expressive and complete release yet.

Tasting Notes

100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from six districts across the Paso Robles AVA, aged in French oak.

Dark ruby in color with aromas of freshly picked black currants, ripe cherry, and blackberries, lifted by violets, mocha, and dried spices.

On the palate, lush olallieberry and cherry fruit take center stage, wrapped in smooth, supple tannins and brightened by fresh acidity. Cedar, clove, nutmeg, and vanilla bean round out a long, polished finish.

Full-bodied and richly textured — as approachable tonight as it is built to age.

Critical Reviews

A Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe fruit aromas that leap from the glass, leading to a luscious, generous palate of black and purple stewed fruits and pie filling. Cedar and sweet spices frame a very long, velvety finish, with a wash of chocolate on the back palate. An indulgent, sought-after style of Cabernet Sauvignon in Paso Robles. ~ 91 Decanter
