About the Wine

Mirafiori Winery is a 300-acre Bionatural Reserve in the beautiful Serralunga d'Alba, at the core of the renowned Barolo region, right there with iconic producers like Giacomo Conterno or Roberto Voerzio, where Barolos can often exceed $300.

It dates back to over 160 years. In the 19th century, a nobleman with a modern vision, Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, son of Italy's first King, embarked on a remarkable wine journey. He founded Casa E. di Mirafiore, a winery that aimed not only to craft exceptional wines but also to create a thriving village. This village, a real community, housed 250 people, all employed by the winery. Even today, 15 families call it home. Every corner of this place tells a unique story, making it Italy's first storytelling village.

Casa E. di Mirafiore has always been ahead of its time. Since 2018, it has proudly held the title of an Organic Estate. With vineyards in the Barolo and Fontanafredda subzones, it exclusively produces wines from its estate-owned vineyards, including the renowned Barolo DOCG crus, Lazzarito and Paiagallo.

In the past, when science and technology were scarce, magic filled the air of the Langhe region. Old stories and legends, intertwined with mysticism, abounded. These tales often revolved around natural disasters and the challenges faced by farmers. The magic ritual of fire, described by Cesare Pavese in his book "La luna e i falò,” was a symbol of hope during grape harvest time.

One vineyard, in particular, stands out - Pietra Magica. It's an ode to history and the embodiment of how wine in the Langhe was conceived centuries ago. It represents an ancient approach that made Nebbiolo, the heart of Barolo, more accessible by blending it with Barbera skins.

The 2017 Barbera Nebbiolo Blend is a wine that's ready to be enjoyed right away. Its soft and approachable nature makes it a versatile choice for enhancing your Italian dining experience. If you have a love for Italy and its culinary delights, this wine is a fantastic choice.

Aging: 1 year in large barrels.

Tasting Notes: Nebbiolo and Barbera. Immediate, elegant, with an explosion of freshness in the nose, this is a wine that can age at length in the bottle. Simply magical.
