Lots of graphite and purple fruit with salty and lavender undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, fine, and beautiful. Excellent length. ~94-95 JS

The 2022 Poesia is a heady, opulent wine. Inky dark fruit, herbs, lavender, and chocolate abound. In this vintage, the Franc is up to 30% and that comes through in the wine's distinctly savory profile. This exotic, flamboyant Saint-Emilion possesses a tremendous aromatic presence to play off its opulent fruit. The oak needs to integrate, but then again, this is an en primeur sample. Frost lowered yields to 30 hectoliters per hectare instead of the more typical 45 or so. ~93-95 AG-VM

The 2022 Poesia, which suffered minor frost damage in early April, has a more marine-tinged bouquet thanks to its cloy/limestone soils. Blackberry and blueberry fruit, fine delineation, taciturn at first, but it opens well in the gloss after aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh, peppery entry. The limestone comes through nicely here. But it's quite backward on the finish and therefore it will require 4-5 years in the bottle. ~93-95 NM-VM

The 2022 Château Poesia is a bigger, riper, powerful wine based on 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Ripe black cherries, smoked tobacco, graphite, licorice, and ample chalky minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a great mid-palate, ripe yet building tannins, and a terrific finish. With a pH of 3.39, it's going to need time. ~93-95 JD
