About the Wine

It's no surprise that Mendoza is one of the “New World's” favorite regions for some of the major wine critics and savvy wine drinkers in the world. The land of Malbec and asado won't disappoint any foodie who wants to adventure and discover amazing new wines. If that is your case, 2021 Henry Lagarde Malbec Organic is just the wine for you!

Lagarde is one of the oldest wineries in the Mendoza region with Malbec vines over 100 years old. The Pescarmona family acquired Lagarde in 1969, and they quickly became a trendsetter by being the first Latin American producer to plant non-traditional varieties such as Viognier and Moscato Bianco. Today the winery and estate are run by third-generation Pescarmonas, sisters Sofia and Lucila Pescarmona.

Lagarde is a one-of-a-kind vineyard, where seductive, honest, and elegant wines are crafted with minimal intervention, preserving their natural identity and freshness. The winery has been cultivating grapes sustainably since 1906, but it was in 2015 that it obtained an organic certification.

Aging: In concrete for nine months

Tasting Notes: 100% Malbec. Dark, bright, and intense violet.Aromas of red fruits, with notes of flowers such as violet and some fresh herbs. The palate is balanced and subtle with friendly tannins, which gives very good volume and a sense of roundness.

Reviews

Violet floral aromas initially. The palate develops more complex notes of liquorice and crunchy fruits. Bright, easy drinking style with well-balanced tannins. A pleasingly lengthy finish combines black tea and plum. ~90 IWSC
