About the Wine

If you want to know the true essence of Sauvignon Blanc, try this wine. Forget about Kiwi gooseberries. This is the original stuff that zings, zips, and makes the lips smack. Every Sauv. Blanc you've ever had aspires to be more like this wine with its stunning "flintiness" and honeysuckle aromatics.

Wine Spectator says, “Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.”

Sancerre is an appellation located in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. This appellation produces red and rosé, but it’s undoubtedly the white Sancerre the flagship style of the whole region.

We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”

Domaine Roland Tissier et Fils is located in the Cher department of France overlooking the river Loire. With a winegrowing heritage spanning three generations, (dating back to 1972), the Tissier family cultivates vineyards across 27 acres of land, with 80% dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc and 20% to Pinot Noir.

The estate’s terroir is iconic, with soils that date back to the Cretaceous and Jurassic eras, formed between 100 to 150 million years. The vineyards are located in 3 different types of soils: Caillottes, (calcareous/limestone and rocky soils that result in fine and fruity wines) Terres Blanches, (composed of clay and shells, which contribute to the complexity of the wine), and Silex (a siliceous sedimentary rock, granting smoked aromas and an elegant minerality.)

Domaine Roland Tissier et Fils Etincelle (which means "Spark") comes from 50-year-old vines. This wine spends 12 months in tank with periodic lees stirring. The result is a complex, delicate, and elegant white wine.

Tasting Notes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Full of finesse, this wine shows fruity (citrus) aromas, and floral (white flowers) with a touch of minerality. If you ever wanted to know what a “Tangy” wine is, it’s this. Perfect with any lighter style foods served with a vinaigrette or lemon squeeze such as shellfish, crudo, baked fish, and even a baked chicken. If you love Sauvignon Blanc, you’ll love this wine as this represents the best of the varietal.
