Here's what wine critic Jeb Dunnuck says about 2018 Bordeaux:

"In short, 2018 is a thrilling vintage with no shortage of legendary wines and I cannot imagine anyone who purchases these wines will be disappointed...It’s possible to find attractive, well-made, even outstanding, wines that punch well above their price points."

The wines of Ormes de Pez are made with the same care as those of Chateau Lynch-Bages, Grand Cru Classé of PauillacChâteau Ormes de Pez has belonged to the wine-growing landscape of the Médoc since the 18th century.

The wines of Ormes de Pez are made with the same care as those of Chateau Lynch-Bages, Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac. Château Ormes de Pez has belonged to the wine-growing landscape of the Médoc since the 18th century.

The wines of Ormes de Pez are powerful but stand out for their harmony. Wines of pleasure and indulgence, they combine roundness and fleshiness with the typical elegance of Saint-Estèphe.

The wine is a rich, full, and generous style dominated by Merlot and a large proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon to combine longevity and flexibility. They know how to seduce in their early youth and gain finesse after several years of aging.

Located in the beautiful Medoc peninsula, Château Ormes de Pez enjoys the mildness of a temperate oceanic climate. The vineyard is divided into two distinct terroirs: gravelly plots, on soils composed of quartz and rolled pebbles where Cabernet flourishes, and the clay-sandy plots are perfectly suited for Merlot. These plots are very representative of the Saint-Estèphe appellation.

Managed using sustainable farming practices with an average vine age of 35 years old. Due to the high quality associated with the Cazes family, this wine remains one of the most popular Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux wines.

Aging: 15 months in French oak, 45% new

50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot A harmonious, spicy, and racy wine. It seduces you with its opulence, elegance, and roundness. The palate develops powerful tannins while keeping a smooth and fleshy side.

The estate is under the same ownership as Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac. Rich and smoky, this sophisticated, rich wine has some serious tannins as well as black fruits. The wine shows great pedigree, with dark berry fruits and a firm, ageworthy structure. Drink from 2026. ~94 Wine Enthusiast

This is very dense and lively with blueberry and blackberry character. Lots of purple fruit at the end. Full body and powerful tannins. Spicy undertones with hints of black tea. ~93-94 James Suckling

Beautiful aromatics, this is thoroughly enjoyable with brambles and hawthorn that give focus and lift. 45% new oak. Brilliant value, as ever. Drinking Window 2023 - 2036 ~93 Decanter

Emerging from the team at Lynch-Bages, the 2018 Château Ormes De Pez checks in as 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all brought up in just 45% new French oak. Lots of perfumed blue fruits, leafy tobacco, cedar, and spring flowers emerge from the glass, and it has a rocking core of sweet fruit balanced by ripe tannin's and nicely integrated acidity. This fresh, lively, perfumed Saint-Estèphe is going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 20-25+ in cold cellars. ~92 Jeb Dunnuck

Composed of 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot and aging in 45% new barriques, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Ormes de Pez leaps from the glass with vibrant blackberries, black cherries and mulberries scents plus touches of garrigue, tree bark and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied with bags of muscular fruit, it has a firm, grainy texture and great freshness, finishing on an herbal lift. ~90-92 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate
