About the Wine

Opus One was founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, legendary proprietor of Château Mouton Rothschild, and renowned Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. By combining the great winemaking traditions and innovations of both families, the founders’ singular goal was to create an exceptional wine in the heart of Napa Valley. Opus One, like any great work, arose out of passion. Dedicated to uncompromised quality, Opus One’s sole purpose is to express this vision and passionate spirit for generations to come.

Staying true to the tradition of many prestigious Bordeaux estates, Opus One created a superb second wine called Overture. It's a natural extension of the artistry behind Opus One, representing the timeless character of their vineyards.

2019 was a fabulous year for Napa Valley Cabernet. Wine Spectator awarded this year a 97-point score, and Vinous Media gave it 96 points saying that "The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernets have turned out beautifully. 2019 is a very high-quality vintage of Cabernets that will be easy to drink and enjoy with minimal cellaring. The extra kick of late heat softened the tannins, making the wines a pleasure to taste and drink."

Tasting Notes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec. This remarkable terroir expresses itself in the complex aromas, flavors, and especially, textures of Overture. The classic blackberry and cassis character of Cabernet Sauvignon melds seamlessly with the black cherry, red currant, and violet from the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The blending of wine-lots across vintages and extended barrel aging give Overture a supple structure and silky texture.
