About the Wine

Oakville, a gem of Napa Valley, provides the perfect terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon. Nestled between the Vaca and Mayacamas mountains, this region boasts gravelly, alluvial soils and an ideal climate that brings out the best in the grapes. The winery is next to legendary vineyards like Screaming Eagle and To-Kalon.

Textbook was founded by industry veterans Jonathan and Susan Pey, inspired by their love for the nuanced elegance of European wines and the bold intensity of Napa Valley. The result is a "textbook" Oakville Cabernet that marries the best of both worlds. Susan and Jonathan’s relentless pursuit of excellence is evident in every bottle, a tribute to their shared passion and Susan's enduring legacy.

Crafted by the talented Abigail Estrada, who has honed her skills across the globe, the 2015 Coeur de Chene is a masterpiece of meticulous winemaking. Each lot is kept separate, tasted throughout the year, and artfully blended to create a wine of remarkable depth and complexity.

From hand-sorting clusters to fermenting in open-top, temperature-controlled fermenters, every step is executed with precision. The wine is aged for twenty-one months in the finest French oak barrels, adding a layer of sophistication and a velvety texture to its robust structure.

The 2015 vintage in Napa Valley was absolutely epic! It scored 97 points from Wine Advocate. This is the kind of vintage you'll want to save and enjoy later. But guess what? Later is NOW, and after 9 years, it's the perfect time to pop it open and enjoy!

Aging: 21 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes:74% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2015 Coeur de Chene captivates with its deep garnet hue and an aromatic bouquet of black currant, dark cherry, and a hint of violet. On the palate, it reveals layers of rich dark fruit, cocoa, and a touch of espresso, balanced by refined tannins and a lingering, elegant finish. This wine is both powerful and graceful, a testament to its prestigious origins.
