Reviews

This pure merlot shows depth and firmness, with terra-cotta and black-cherry character. Some saltiness, too. It's full and layered with integrated tannins and a juicy finish. Lightly chewy finish. Mostly limestone. Tasted twice. ~94-95 JS

The 2023 Calicem, 100% Merlot, is quite expressive. I find it especially aromatic this year and not as concentrated, which is not a bad thing at all. The balance here is sublime. Black cherry, mocha, cedar, licorice and chocolate linger.~90-93 AG-VM

A 100% Merlot, the 2023 Calicem, vinified in perles (small oak vessels), reveals a dense, complex bouquet of violet, dark wild berries, mulberries, spices and licorice intertwined with a touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, enveloping and structuring, it’s fleshy with a vibrant core of fruit and delicately structuring tannins. ~92-94 RP
