Produced by La Bollina Winery.This wine comes from Puglia in Italy, a region located in the southern peninsula of the country, bordering the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Ionian Sea to the southeast, and the Strait of Otranto and Gulf of Taranto to the south. This is a very fertile region, known for the cultivation of olives, figs, almonds, wheat, and of course grapevines.
Puglia is an important wine region in the world, there are dozens of DOC. The wines were once known as “inexpensive bulk wines” because they were more focused on quantity over quality. Much has changed in Puglia over the last two decades and wines from the “heel of the boot” now represent very high quality and some of the best values in the world, with a particular focus on the indigenous varietals like Primitivo, Uva di Troia, Malvasia Nera, and Negroamaro.
Nowadays, the wine from this region is considered of high quality at an affordable price, loved by the most demanding palates.
Cazzaro is a tiny production that was rated 98 points in the "Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani 2020" which is an annual guide from Luca Maroni that is dedicated to wine criticism. It is one of the most comprehensive references for Italian wine in the world.
This wine has a cold maceration for a week and 10 days of fermentation in controlled temperatures of 20º to 22º C. Aged for 6 months in French and American barrels.
Tasting Notes: Ruby Red color. Fruity aromas like berries, cherries, and blackberries are in perfect combination with the soft notes that come from the oak, such as mocha, chocolate, and vanilla. Gentle entrance on the palate, well-balanced tannins, rounded body that makes this wine very easy to drink. This wine pairs great with grilled meat and medium-aged cheeses.
Blend: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Uva di Troia, Malvasia Nera.
