About the Wine
Chateau Haut Condissas is the flagship wine of the Rollan de By estate run by Jean Guyon. It wasn't until five years after Jean had purchased the estate that the inspiration to create a special cuvee from select vineyards was struck. The grapes are selected from the top 15 hectares of the entire estate, the result is "Haute Cotour of wine"
Jean Guyon purchased Domaine Rollan de By, a leader of the Crus Bourgeois, with under 5 acres of total property in 1989. At the time the estate was already known for making quality wine, but today it is one of the most significant properties in the Médoc region. This is due in part to the growth of nearly 500 acres and exceptional terroir located around the area of By. Domaines Rollan de By balances, respecting the local environment while also embracing modern technologies that further enhance these exceptional wines.
" There is no doubt that the 2010 Bordeaux vintage deserves its place within the first rank of growing seasons, along with years such as 2005, 2009 and 2016" -Neal Martin
Tasting Notes:60% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. This is a complex wine that offers firm tannins and rich fruit. It has weight, density, and a strong sense of ripeness. With balance and depth, it’s a wine with good aging potential.
A wine with a serious intensity with dried dark fruits and toasted oak. Full body, with velvety tannins and a fresh finish. Tannic and bright. Better after 2015. ~92 James Suckling
The top cuvee made by the innovative and visionary proprietor Jean Guyon, the 2010 Haut-Condissas has loads of black currant fruit, charcoal, graphite, and tobacco leaf notes in a full-bodied, rich, attractive, very supple and fleshy style. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. By the way, there is a kosher (or as the French say “kacher”) cuvee of this wine that didn’t seem nearly as good, although it was certainly competent. ~91 Robert Parker
