Here are twelve of our Founder's Favorites. These are the wines that Greg recommends to friends and serves at his house.

From cult Napa Valley producers to First Growth challengers, from ancient Australian vineyards to Italian legends, this collection represents the pinnacle of winemaking. Each bottle tells a story of exceptional terroir, masterful craftsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Journey with us through these 12 carefully selected treasures.

2021 Hundred Acre Fortunate Son The Diplomat Red Wine Napa Valley

Jason Woodbridge has set the pace for 100pt wines and has achieved cult status in a relatively few years at Hundred Acre. The Fortunate Son line of wines extends his brand and branches out. This wine is a Merlot dominated blend that as Jeb Dunnuck said, “would give a great Pomerol a run for its money with its darker red and black fruits, smoky herbs, and earthy goodness on the nose.”

2012 Yarra Yering Underhill Shiraz - Big Hammer Wines

2012 Yarra Yering Underhill Shiraz Yarra Valley

This winery property dates back to the founding of OZ as a prison colony. This winery has won just about every award available and remarkably with a 150+ year history was awarded winery of the year in 2022 and the female owner as winemaker of the year. If you love bacon, you can find hints of it in this wine. If you want a true experience of a 12-year-old earthy and terroir-driven Shiraz from old vines, this will be your jam.

2020 Weingut Emmerich Knoll Wachau Ried Pfaffenberg Steiner Riesling

2020 Weingut Emmerich Knoll Wachau Ried Pfaffenberg Steiner Riesling

If you haven't yet discovered the joys of top-end DRY Austrian wines, it's probably because they are keeping these wines for themselves! Our allocation on this wine is tiny because we have to fight with the top 3-star Michelin restaurants for a tiny amount. Here's what James Suckling had to say, "It makes you feel like you’re on vacation on Hawaii or Tahiti." I can't add more other than, buy this wine.

2020 Selbach Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Grosse Gewachs

2020 Selbach Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Mosel Riesling Grosse Gewachsy

This is a WOW! Wine. If you’re curious about DRY Riesling from an icon producer, at a special discount, here it is. It's not just our opinion, this is what the German wine critic at the Wine Advocate had to say, “Selbach-Oster might be one of the hottest domains along the Mosel, if not in all Germany.” And, James Suckling added this, "Juicy and very vibrant, this Spätlese wants you to drop everything, pull down the blinds, and relax with a glass in hand." Don't miss it.

2020 Chateau Montrose St. Estephe

2020 Chateau Montrose St. Estephe

After visiting Ch. Montrose several times, it is one of the most beautiful Chateau in Bordeaux, but there’s also this church-like reverence for the place. I’ve been at the property with 100 or more people during en-primeur, and there is a silence, as people quietly sniff, swirl, and appreciate the majesty in the glass. Most critics and I agree: this wine is somewhere between 98 points and perfection.

2022 Domaine Jean-Michel Guillon & Fils La Petite Chapelle Gevery-Chambertin Premier Cru

2022 Domaine Jean-Michel Guillon & Fils La Petite Chapelle Gevery-Chambertin Premier Cru

Sometimes, I put my nose in the glass and immediately know I’m going to love the wine. This was one of those wines. This is a wine that will take you on a ride as it unfurls over the course of an hour or over dinner. 2019 was a “can’t miss” vintage in Burgundy and drinking this wine is like being in the presence of a graceful, elegant lady who smells so captivating, you have to hold yourself back from leering.

2018 Isola e Olena Cepparello

2018 Isola e Olena Cepparello

Cepparello is the flagship wine of the estate and is truly a "WOW" wine that must be tasted to truly appreciate it. The estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region at the midway point between Siena and Florence. If you want to know what top-class Sangiovese is about and why it’s the most successful grape in Italy, you must try this wine.

2019 Bruna Grimaldi Barolo Badarina

2019 Bruna Grimaldi Barolo Badarina

Single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Serralunga d'Alba in a fine vintage like 2019 seems to be on a price trajectory into the $100+ regions. But, when we find a small family producer that maintains fair pricing, we love to support them. It's worth noting that this vineyard sits near the famed Monfortino, where Barolo's climb to $1000+. Double 94-point scores are a strong confirmation we're not the only ones who appreciate Grimaldi Baroli for its quality and value.

2019 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino

2019 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino

After visiting Andrea at his winery, it became clear why there is so much fanfare about him and his wines. He's a man of the land, self-taught, under the guidance of the leading Professor of Oenology in the region, and located next door to Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona in the best part of Castelnuovo dell'Abate. This Brunello is not only an outstanding example of the not-to-be-missed 2019 vintage, but it also represents very good value for money.

2021 Paul Hobbs Coombsville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2021 Paul Hobbs Coombsville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Paul Hobbs is known for his meticulous approach to winemaking, and his Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of his craft. This wine captures the essence of Napa Valley's Coombsville region, known for its cooler climate and exceptional terroir. The 2021 vintage offers deep, complex layers of black fruit, rich tannins, and hints of spice, delivering a bold yet balanced wine that showcases both power and elegance. It’s a must-try for any Cabernet enthusiast and an excellent addition to a collection.

2010 Brookman Cabernet Sauvignon 100% Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley

Gray Brookman has had an illustrious career making some iconic wines including Joseph Phelps Insignia. His focus has been on the Stagecoach vineyard and his wines are magisterial. We can’t recommend this producer enough, and people come back again and again for these wines. This is 100% Stagecoach from the 2010 library vintage.

2020 William Fevre Les Lys Chablis Premier Cru

2020 William Fevre Les Lys Chablis Premier Cru

Since 1959, William Fèvre has been synonymous with excellence in Chablis. This is a 1er Cru from a cool vineyard site that just screams "Classy Chard." If you already know about these wines, then you know. If you haven't given yourself the opportunity to have a benchmark Chablis, buy this.
