Domaine Laroche is more than a winery — it’s a legend. With a history that stretches back over 1,000 years, this estate has mastered the art of Chablis winemaking. The Obédiencerie, their ancient winemaking headquarters, has seen centuries of craftsmanship and dedication to terroir. Founded in 1850 by Jean Victor Laroche, Domaine Laroche has become a beacon of Chablis excellence. Today, led by Michel Laroche, the winery boasts over 100 hectares of vines, including 5.99 hectares of Grand Cru, making it one of the most esteemed producers in the region.

But it’s not just about legacy. The 2022 Domaine Laroche Les Fourchaumes Vieilles Vignes Chablis Premier Cru is a living testament to everything this winery stands for. Les Fourchaumes is one of the most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards in all of Chablis, located just north of the village itself, on the eastern banks of the Serein River. This is the kind of terroir that shapes wines with precision, finesse, and complexity.

The 70-year-old vines in Les Fourchaumes grow in soils made up of Kimmeridgian clay and limestone—an ancient mix that’s more than 180 million years old. These soils are rich with fossilized oyster shells, lending the wine its signature minerality, and creating a wine that is structured, elegant, and loaded with finesse.

It’s all about that perfect balance. The exposure of the vineyard to the sun, sheltered from the harsh northern winds, allows the grapes to develop concentrated flavors while preserving natural acidity. The result? A wine with an electric edge, yet smooth and refined with delicate notes of white blossoms, crisp orchard fruits, and that distinctive mineral backbone that only Chablis can offer.

This wine comes from one of the largest and best-known Premier Cru vineyards in Chablis—Fourchame. Wines from this vineyard are revered for their rounded citrus flavors, incredible structure, and fresh, mouthwatering minerality.

2022 was an incredible vintage for Burgundy. Vinous Media blessed this year with a 96 point review, and said: "The style of 2022 is primed for early consumption, more than 2019 or 2020. The 2022 Burgundy vintage offers a bounty for those with a passion for its wines. " 

100% Chardonnay. A racy, elegant wine with intense minerality; a beautiful structure with delicate notes of white blossom and orchard fruit.

Very restrained on the nose at the moment but there is clearly lots of purity and drive here. On the palate, this has great acidity and concentration, aided by the old vines used for the cuvée. Very precise and delineated on the finish. Has the concentration to age beautifully for five years at least. ~ 94 Decanter
