Nestled on an 80-acre south-facing slope in the heart of Willamette Valley, Illahe Vineyards boasts a rich history of grape growing and winemaking, making them true pioneers in the Oregon wine scene.

The story begins with Illahe's picturesque vineyard site, strategically positioned to harness the Oregon sun. The slope varies from gentle to steep, providing a unique microclimate for grape cultivation. This vineyard benefits from well-drained soils, creating wines with a rich complexity rooted in sedimentary clay.

Illahe Vineyards offers a diverse range of grape varieties, each carefully chosen for its compatibility with the terroir. Pinot Noir, the heart of Illahe's production, thrives with six distinct clones, including Dijon clones 777 and 115, Pommard, Swan, and more. As a LIVE-certified and Salmon Safe vineyard, they prioritize sustainability.

Lowell and Pauline Ford are the owners and growers. With a family history rooted in grape growing, Lowell and Pauline carry on the tradition with passion and dedication.

Nathan Litke is an amazing winemaker, whose journey from whitewater rafting to winemaking led him to Illahe, where he creates exciting and delicious wines.

Illahe's winemaking philosophy is centered around minimal intervention and historical techniques. Grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery using traditional methods. Natural yeast fermentation, whole-cluster pressing, and hand-crafted processes ensure the utmost care is taken to create exceptional wines.

Bon Sauvage Pinot Noir is a true gem in their portfolio. Crafted from a barrel selection by winemakers Brad and Nathan, this wine offers an elegant expression of the Illahe estate. A beautiful combination of earthy and spicy notes, it's perfect for enjoying now or cellaring for future delight.

2021 is looking to be a great vintage for Willamette Valley. Wine Spectator was awarded this year with a 91-94 point review and said, "Pinots are perfumed, fresh, and vibrant."

Aging: in 25% French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: 100% Pinot Noir. A delightful mix of scents, like cigar box, cedar, forest, fennel, earth, and rocky notes. Its taste is a medley of lingonberry, blueberry, violet, cranberry, and hints of raspberry seeds. This Pinot Noir has a nice structure with smooth tannins, and it finishes with a touch of clove, tobacco, and the freshness of fir. It can age beautifully for at least 10 more years.
