About The Wine

Heitz Cellars, a family-owned winery since 1961, is a Napa Valley legend—and for good reason. Joe Heitz, a visionary winemaker, revolutionized Napa with the first vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon, Heitz Cellars Martha’s Vineyard. This bold move changed Napa forever, setting the stage for world-class wines that continue to be a benchmark for excellence.

Today, the Heitz family’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and classic winemaking still shines. Their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, made from the iconic Only One and Spring Valley Vineyards in St. Helena, is a perfect introduction to the Heitz signature style. This wine isn’t just a bottle; it’s a window into Napa’s rich terroir, with the potential to age beautifully—but it’s ready to enjoy now, with bold flavors and balance that will captivate your senses.

In 2018, the Lawrence family took the reins, bringing their deep agricultural expertise and passion for quality to continue Heitz's legacy. All of their wines are made from 100% Napa Valley fruit, organically farmed to ensure the sustainability of the land and the future of Napa Valley winemaking. With vineyards spread across Napa’s most coveted sub-appellations—Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, Oak Knoll, and Calistoga—Heitz wines offer a unique expression of Napa’s diverse terroir.

Certified organic by CCOF, Heitz Cellars takes pride in nurturing the land that gives life to their wines. This commitment to sustainable farming ensures you’re drinking a wine that honors both the earth and its rich Napa roots.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Napa at its finest, now’s the time.

The Wine Independent described 2021 as a dream vintage in Napa Valley. Following an exceptionally dry winter, small berries and low yields produced wines of striking concentration, ripe tannins, and purity. A steady, sun-filled summer allowed perfect ripening, making 2021 one of Napa’s finest vintages of the century.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Remarkably pure and fresh. Pristine black cherry and blackberry, layered with beautiful violet aromas. Everything builds with precision and focus, supported by gorgeously firm, taut, mineral-rich tannins that bring energy and drive. The wine is compact and tightly wound at this youthful stage, its intensity truly emblematic of the vintage. ~99 Decanter

Dark fruit aromas of blackberries, bitter chocolate, dried herbs, blackcurrants, black olives and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with a textural, rounded mouthfeel and finely integrated tannins, leading to a savory, fruit-driven finish. Delicious. Drink or hold. ~94 James Suckling

Ripe, fresh and focused, with a lovely beam of red currant plum coulis that stretches out alongside hints of savory, violet, tobacco and singed cedar. Finishes with a late twang of iron. Nicely done. ~94 Wine Spectator

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is fabulous. Plump and vibrant, with good up-front fruit and bright acids, the 2021 captures the essence of modern classicism that is typical of the Heitz wines today. This is a superb entry-level offering from Heitz. Floral overtones brighten the finish. ~93 Vinous Media
