The wines of Ormes de Pez are made with the same care as those of Chateau Lynch-Bages, Grand Cru Classé of PauillacChâteau Ormes de Pez has belonged to the wine-growing landscape of the Médoc since the 18th century.

The wines of Ormes de Pez are powerful but stand out for their harmony. Wines of pleasure and indulgence, they combine roundness and fleshiness with the typical elegance of Saint-Estèphe.

The wine is a rich, full and generous style dominated by Merlot and a large proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon to combine longevity and flexibility. They know how to seduce in their early youth and gain finesse after several years of aging.

Located in the beautiful Medoc peninsula, Château Ormes de Pez enjoys the mildness of a temperate oceanic climate. The vineyard is divided into two distinct terroirs: gravelly plots, on soils composed of quartz and rolled pebbles where Cabernet flourishes, and the clay-sandy plots are perfectly suited for Merlot. These plots are very representative of the Saint-Estèphe appellation.

Managed using sustainable farming practices with an average vine age of 35 years old. Due to the high quality associated with the Cazes family this wine remains one of the most popular Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux wines.

Aging: 15 months in French oak, 50% new

Red Wine. 49% Merlot 44% Cabernet Sauvignon 6% Cabernet Franc 1% Petit Verdot. A harmonious, spicy, and racy wine. It seduces you with its opulence, elegance and roundness. The palate develops powerful tannins while keeping a smooth and fleshy side.

What a lovely nose! The blackberry, smoke, and earthy notes are beautifully interwoven — then there’s an equally impressive harmony of full, plush tannins and some real concentration. Needs until 2020 to give its best, but it's got many years ahead of it beyond that. ~94 James Suckling

This property, owned by the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, has produced a structured wine. Its tannins show most strongly at the moment. Sustained by black-currant fruit, they will keep the wine firm although with a rich, generous style in the future. Drink from 2025. ~93 Wine Enthusiast
