About the Wine

A fantastic Bordeaux from the renowned growing region of Graves for under $20. Characterized by the gravel soils from which it gets its name, Graves is historically considered the birthplace of high-quality Bordeaux as early as the 14th Century. This wine is a perfect introduction to the Left-Bank that can be enjoyed any day of the week.

2016 was an extraordinary vintage. Earning a 97 point rating from acclaimed wine critic, Robert Parker. In 2016, a rising tide lifts all boats, including this great mid-week value wine from the #1 wine region in the world.

Graves is home to the producer Liber Pater, the most expensive wine out of all of Bordeaux. Bottles from certain vintages can sell for over 25,000 Euros!

The gravel-rich terroir composed of light-reflective soils with excellent drainage is among the finest Bordeaux has to offer for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, a variety which performs particularly well in free-draining soils. Merlot favors where clay is more prevalent in the soil composition.

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is expressive with notes of cherries and black pepper. Fruit forward palate that is vibrant and fresh. Pair with roasted poultry and creamy cheeses.
