“Cava has earned a reputation for making some of the world’s best-value traditional-method sparkling wines. It is worth seeking out if you want to enjoy bubbles that don’t break the bank.” ~Decanter.
The history of Juve and Camps goes back more than 200 years when the visionary viticulturist Joan Juvé began producing wines in the land of Penedès. This family-owned winery passed from generation to generation until it became the property of Joan Juvé Baqués and his wife, Teresa Camps, in 1921. This couple, together with their children Josep and Joan, made many great contributions to the winery, but the most remarkable of all, was the construction of an underground cellar to begin the production of their Cava. From this moment, the bubbling dream began!
In 1999, the Milesime was born, which is a high-quality Cava that is only made in the best vintages. This Cava is one of the most prestigious labels of the winery, and one of the most pampered by savvy wine drinkers and wine critics around the world.
Juve y Camps has three different estates located in some of the best regions of the Penedes, in total they make up almost 700 acres. For more than 10 years, the winery began to adopt sustainable practices and direct the vineyard towards integrated and organic viticulture; thanks to these efforts, in 2015 they achieved their first 100% organic harvest.
2017 Juve y Camps Milesime Reserva Brut Cava is made under the traditional method also called Champagnoise method. This means that the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, resulting in an attractive, complex sparkling wine with a very elegant bubble. The Chardonnay comes from the d'Espiells estate, located at the foot of the Montserrat mountain, in one of the highest quality areas of Alt Penedès.
Aging: 24 months Sur Lie.
Tasting Notes: 100% Chardonnay. Lovely golden color and fine bubbles, it has a very distinguished expression, with lively notes of white fruit like peach and apple, honey, grapefruit, toasted bread. In the mouth, it is full, with a clear freshness, remarkable intensity, and fabulous creaminess. The finish is elegant and very persistent. This incredible wine pairs with seafood, and oysters. It is also excellent as an aperitif and with desserts (especially fruit-based).
