About the Wine
Friuli Grave is a DOC located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, home to this magnificent wine. Wine experts and some of the most important critics in the world have compared this region to Graves DOC in Bordeaux. The reason is simple, they both share similarities within their spectacular terroirs. In fact, both of their names are given after the gravelly soils. In Friuli Grave DOC, you’ll find some of the best examples of Italian reds made with the typical Bordeaux grapes.
This region is made up of more than 18 acres of vineyards, located in one of the most privileged areas in the entire country, bordering on both sides of the Tagliamento River.
Friuli Grave DOC is a paradise for the vines to thrive, and the dreamed region of any winemaker thanks to different factors. First, is the maritime influence due to the proximity to the Adriatic Sea. Second, is the proximity to the mountains, which protect the valley from cold winds and extremely cold weather. And third, the soils are composed of garrigue and stones, enhancing the thermal differential between day and night. Thanks to its unique terroir, this region is known for producing spectacular, elegant, and high-quality wines.
The dream of the Tombacco family began when, in 1968, they acquired the Magredi winery. In its origins, this estate had also apple and peach trees, but soon the love of wine took over, and they decided to plant nothing but vines.
The Tombacco family has a broad sense of responsibility for the quality of the vineyard and the wine. The vineyard is treated with absolute care and respect, and they’re committed to the environment using sustainable practices. The winery was built in 1990 and has continued to be modernized and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The winery is the perfect combination of tradition and modernity. Thanks to all the efforts both in the vineyard and in the winery, I Magredi is proudly one of the highest-quality and most recognized wineries in the whole area.
2018 I Magredi Cabernet Sauvignon Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a young and fresh Cab, that doesn’t spend time in barrels. This is the perfect wine to drink by itself, but you can pair it with appetizers, pizza, tomato-based pasta, or some mild cheeses. This wine should be drunk young, enjoy it now during its prime drinking time!
Tasting Notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a deep ruby red color and slightly herbaceous fragrances with raspberry and cherry hints; the finish is spicy. The palate is dry, full, and extremely elegant confirming the fruity taste found on the nose.
