About the Wine 

Roxanne... wife of Alexander the Great, Cyrano de Bergerac’s unrequited love and the eponymous subject of one of Sting’s earliest and most famous songs. And now a delicious Toscana IGT, joining the portfolio of widely acclaimed wines produced at Il Palagio.

Villa Il Palagio estate lies amid the rolling hills of the lush, fertile Tuscan countryside south of Florence. The private home of Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, this truly remarkable sixteenth-century estate has been totally renovated and includes: 65 acres of vineyards, 8,000 olive trees, and 80 bee colonies amongst numerous other agricultural endeavors. All wines produced at Il Palagio are organic and certified by BioAgricert.

Aging: 18 months in French and American oak barrels (30% new).

Tasting Notes: 90% Sangiovese and 10% Ciliegolo. Deep and ruby red color. Intense and fruity notes of ripe red fruits and sweet spices. Strong personality, harmonious structure, and well-completed tannins, with a long finish. With a complex aroma of cherries, wild blackberries, and spices, this is a versatile and very drinkable wine to compliment many dishes and to capture the heart. Pairs well with red meats, seasoned pecorino cheese, and Fiorentina steak.
