This is really fine on the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins that give tension and focus. It’s medium-bodied with lovely berry, cherry, cedar and spice. Peaches and flower stems, too. Creamy texture . Extremely long and vivid. Structured, but showing beautiful drinkability with wonderful balance and form . One to drink or hold. ~ 96 James Suckling
A clear and bold nose shows notes of red plums, wild strawberries, chopped cedar, lemon peel, mixed mandarins and camphor. Many Mediterranean nuances describe the secondary scene of notable olfactory beauty. Medium-full body, dusty tannins with good bite and character and a tense and vertical finish that will need time to relax. Better from 2027. ~ 94 WinesCritic.com
Cherry, plum, leather, earth and tomato leaf flavors highlight this broad, beefy red, with iron and sanguine accents creeping in as this winds down on the finish. Succulent and long, with a dusty grip in the end. Best from 2027 through 2043. 8,500 cases made, 3,750 cases imported. ~ 94 Wine Spectator
The nose has the delicacy of mandarin blossoms , then tart bing cherries and sweet wild strawberries, strewn over top soil and sweet tobacco. The cherries are at perfect maturity on the palate, while that earth and smoke and spice lurk underneath.. ~ 94 Wine Enthusiast
Showing sweet fruit, plump cherry, cured tobacco and perfumed redwood, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a savory side that is nicely folded into a generous core of pronounced fruit. The wine feels smooth and soft over the palate with velvety tannins . This is a bottle you can enjoy upon release if you so choose . ~ 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
~ 93 Cellar Tracker
With a profusion of Mediterranean herbs, forest shrub and sweet spice, there is lovely freshness and precision here . On the palate, vanilla and eucalyptus lace through woodland berries. Surprisingly, still a bit angular in frame yet it flows evenly with gravelly tannins and vivacious acidity. Youthful exuberance needs settling as warming alcohol is apparent. Castiglion del Bosco has been working with renowned Piemontese oenologist Beppe Caviola since 2014. In 2023, ex-Vietti owners Elena Penna and Luca Currado also came on board. ~ 92 Decanter

About the Wine
Castiglion del Bosco’s story begins in 1100 A.D., forged through battles, sieges, and the rise of powerful Sienese families who left their artistic mark. Pietro Lorenzetti’s Annunciazione dei Santi (1345) still graces the hamlet’s small church—a reminder that this estate has always been more than farmland. For over eight centuries, its borgo, school, stables, vineyards, and olive groves have thrived within the same boundaries, standing almost as a world unto itself.
By 1967, when the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino was formed, Castiglion del Bosco was one of its founding pillars. And in 2003, Massimo Ferragamo restored the estate to its former splendor after being captivated by the legendary Capanna Vineyard. Today, the winery is celebrated worldwide for crafting exceptional Brunello di Montalcino.
This Brunello di Montalcino comes from the Capanna vineyard, perched in the northwest of Montalcino. Naturally secluded and facing the Mediterranean Sea, its Galestro soils (clay shale and marl) shape a wine of refined elegance, depth, and undeniable personality.
2019 in Brunello di Montalcino is looking to be one of the greatest vintages of recent years. Decanter says: ‘The strength of the vintage is that the wines will be enjoyable at any stage along the way, given the quality in 2019, Brunello enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice.” and referred to it as “A Superb Vintage!” Stock up on this amazing vintage today!

Castiglion del Bosco
Castiglion del Bosco is one of Tuscany’s oldest and most storied estates, with roots tracing back to 1100 A.D. and a legacy shaped by historic Sienese families and centuries of agricultural tradition.
A founding member of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino in 1967, the estate has long been a benchmark for quality in the region. Its modern renaissance began in 2003, when Massimo Ferragamo restored the property and elevated its winemaking vision, guided by the prestige of the iconic Capanna vineyard.
Today, Castiglion del Bosco stands as a world-class producer of Brunello di Montalcino, celebrated for wines that blend elegance, depth, and unmistakable Tuscan character.
