About the Wine
The 41-hectare vineyard of Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey is planted to 93% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle. The vines are planted to a density that is kept at an even 6,666 vines per hectare. On average, the vines are close to 40 years of age.
The Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey Sauternes is vinified in new and used, French oak barrels. The wine is aged in an average of 60% new, French oak barrels for 18 – 20 months. Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey produces an average of 5,500 cases of Sauternes per year.

This is a dense, layered Sauternes for the vintage, with lots of dried apple, peach and orange, as well as spicy undertones from the botrytis. It’s full-bodied and flavorful. Serious for the vintage. ~96-97 James Suckling
